I'd say male. Females typically, but don't always, have a black blotch on their dorsal fin. Also, it looks to me to be a carpintis rather than a cyanoguttatus. Cyanos are what are typically called the Texas cichlid.
Thanks Jon, it is a carpintas lol. I keep calling him a texas because i have a texas in my other tank, and im starting to think its male too because it was flirting with my convict male about a month ago thats when i thought it was female. Now he is cleaning out a cave with my parrot cichlid so then i was thinking male plus the parrot cichlid is female for sure so now i know the gender thanks again Jon.
