Tail fin clamped - stress or disease?

two apistos looked funny saturday. their tail fin looked as if it was clamped together.. (reminded me of dogs, when a dominant one approaches a female or less dominant they hide the tail beetween the back legs) anyone knows if that is a disease? or stress?? i have too many dwarf cichlids in that thank, i know.

i separated the two that looked funny. input appreciated!

It could be either or both. Separating them was probably a good move. Hopefully you can observe them more closely.

dam, not too helpful lol
i did add a few alder cones to the tank where they now are and i will try to watch them closer. i am not a big fan of medicating so we shall see
