TacoBell beef is actually <35% beef...

The meat mixture sold by Taco Bell restaurants contains binders and extenders and does not meet the minimum requirements set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to be labeled as "beef," according to the legal complaint.

The class-action lawsuit was filed Friday in federal court in the Central District of California by the Montgomery law firm Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles.

Attorney Dee Miles said attorneys had Taco Bell's "meat mixture" tested and found it contained less that 35 percent beef.

This happens a lot more then we want to know so I'm not surprised at all. For instance Wendys uses the lowest grade meat possible. One step lower and it's not for human consumption ie cat food etc....

I have been watching a lot of documentaries on the food industry so I could go on forever lol I stat away from fast food as much as possible.

I actually heard an interview with one of the lawyers last night on NPR on the way home. it's fairly big news already.

The best part about this is that Taco Bell will have to react and change its ways for the better. I ain't gonna lie... I hit up Taco Bell occasionally to switch things up. Anybody who thought that their meat was in any way good quality was naive. We knew that it was crap.

Imagine how good a gordita or mexican pizza will taste in 6 months, after this forced revamp?

An I call that... glass half full. :D

Enjoy the snow, everyone.

oh and kfc uses grade f chicken but the bag says "but edible for human consumption"....

Look I don't eat KFC... but 95% of what is said about them isn't true. My father owned or ran KFC's in Australia and here for about 40 years. Their chicken is actually the highest in term of quality than any other fast food joint. If you are going to eat fast food chicken .. eat kfc. It's purdue chicken. It comes directly from perdue chicken farms.

http://meat.tamu.edu/beefgrading.html

All the letter grading indicates is the age of the meat carcass, and the age determines the quality of the meat cuts (the older the cow, the "badder" the cuts get compared to younger cows).

So if the fast food industry uses Grade E (there is no such thing as Grade F according to the tamu.edu source) meat, that just means the meat came from older cows and is tougher and likely fattier compared to supermarket beef cuts/ground beef.

If we're eating Grade E meat at fast food joints, then we're likely eating old dairy cows.

Also now TacoBell is saying that the people who are suing them are wrong and that TacoBell beef is actually 88% ground beef and the other 12% is the other ingredients (water, seasonings, grain fillers, etc)...:

I found it hilarious how PETA lied by trying to say that KFC slaughters sick chickens, keeps them in horrible conditions, etc. Like you said, KFC does not handle live animals...they just handle the meat after it's processed.

I'm pretty sure Perdue doesn't treat their birds like that either, they have too good of a reputation to ruin it like that. Aren't all their birds cage free now, even the laying hens? I could've sworn I read that somewhere.
