One of the advantages of having 20 longs with the short end out is that you can pack a lot of tanks in a small space. One disadvantage, especially if there is only ambient lighting in the room, is that you can't really see what's going on in the back of the tank.

I've been growing out some Geo. sp. "Sao Paulo" fry for a few months (got them at about 3/4" and now they're about 3") with my group of Yellow Egytian Mouthbrooders. All of the mouthbrooders (including a couple that are holding) and a really nice female "Lago Nicaragua" convict were all plastered against the front glass.

Behind them, 2 of the Geos had a clutch of babies that look to be a week or so old... they've monopolized the back 3/4 of the tank but the front has a net breeder, the sponge filter, some driftwood and decorations that seem to act as a natural barrier...both for the fish and my eyes!

I can't find any pictures of these guys on the net. They're kind of like a Geo brasiliensis except gold. I think that every place in Southern Brazil (and some spots in NE Uruguay) has its own variety of Geo. brasiliensis (kind of like Peacocks or Gymnogeos)...

I'm going to keep an eye on things and if the natural balance of things shifts to the aggressive then I'll move the other fish...
