Sphagnum Moss

Found this interesting article the other day about putting sphagnum moss in breeding tanks. Seems like an interesting idea.

Excellent information. I had heard about this in passing from someone, but it was good to actually read an article about it.

I regularly stick sphagnum moss in tanks, though I don't clean it like Ted does. I can't say I've noticed it makes much of a difference, but hey, I've got it, so why not?

Do they ever make long-fiber sphagnum moss with additives in it (like a wetting agent)? Specifically I'm wondering if there are any brands or types to avoid.

I get mine at Wegmann's in the plant section. It actually says it's organic.

Believe it or not, it's started to grow new sphagnum moss in the paludarium...

if you're really worried about it being clean and free from additives you can also get it in the reptile section of the pet store, though it will be a good bit more expensive that way.
