Slow....

sure is quiet around here the past couple of days...

I amused myself by playing around on facebook - i found some very old pictures of my old highschool friends and started posting them. nothing like the shock of a 40 something seeing his/her pic when they were like 12! Well, most of the pics i have of them are more like ages 15-18. I'm thinking about scanning in the little notes they wrote on the back of the pictures, too. Brought back some memories and more than a couple of laughs reading those!

I'm seriously thinking of rooting out the old school albums... that would really be a laugh.

Am I evil? lol

I still havent jumped on the facebook wagon it took em long enough to get a myspace that I never look at. AS crappy as it may sound I literally have friends eeeeeevvvveeeerywhere and im too lazy to bother to keep up with everyone.

That's awesome Wil!!! I passed on TOOL and also the Mayhem Festival (SLAYER!!!) but I'm going to see Godsmack in August and Metallica in October (I've seen both of em 4 times already). I'm kinda kickin myself cause I've never seen TOOL or Slayer . Glad you got to go and had a great time.

I think everyone's at the ACA, started thursday I believe... I figured someone would take a laptop and keep us updated

Yeah, like they are going to have time... we've seen the proof of what those conventions are like... didn't you see the pic of George dangling a spoon on his nose? LOL Shoot he's not here either... living it up in the jungles of Peru!

*Laughing at Danger* Must be our age? I resisted Facebook myself for years, Cartel. I don't like MySpace, too much bad press. I guess I'm starting to get used to keeping up a facebook wall, kinda useful to have when you move almost 3 hours from family and old friends. Used to be, I'd catch up with people and how/what they were up to at the grocery store, or the county fair or the drugstore - ya know?

I had to leave the office and go out in the field for a few days, so I haven't been on here much either. Wish I was at ACA, but not so lucky. I'll be in the field some next week as well, so I may not be on much. I hate when I'm in the office and the forum is quiet. Thats what keeps me from getting bored. Wish we had some updates from our ACA crew, but I guess we'll have to wait until next week.

I'm in the same boat. I resisted myspace for a long time, thinking it was a fad. It seems like as soon as I caved in and created my account, everyone left myspace and went to facebook. I've been resisting the peer pressure to join facebook, thinking its going to meet the same fate myspace did. I'm still not convince it won't. As soon as I join, I'm sure it won't be "cool" anymore. I miss the days of actually talking to old friends, and not "writing on their wall" or texting them. Technology is making us accept being antisocial in my opinion...

I dunno about technology making us antisocial, it is only what we make it. I agree it definately makes it easier to be antisocial and it has shown that todays kids who use it a lot have a harder time connecting with each other in real life - one reason I keep my kids off sites like facebook - but it is a great tool for someone like me.

You're right, my wording wasn't the best. It makes it easier to be antisocial because you can have an infinite amount of "friends" without ever actually talking to them. Its good for older people that are working full time, and/or going back to school, or have moved a considerable distance and/or started a family. I keep in contact with people that its near impossible to meet up with, but I rarely chat with people that live in MD. Call me weird, but if I consider you a friend, I'd rather hang out than chat on the computer. Again, I think its good for people over the age of lets say 21, but my guess is that 70% of habitual facebook users are age 14-20. I think that making friends online is a good self-esteem booster but it facilitates being socially awkward in real life. My feeling is life can't be lived in front of a computer. I have more fun away from the computer. And I'm not one to create an "online diary" of everything I am currently doing in life. If its that important you can ask. Nothing against people that love facebook and twitter, its just not my thing. I think I got :sign0018:. I'll go find a :sign0197: to take. Thats my :sign0134:

LOL - I agree with you! Discus! Just like this forum is great for us all to keep in touch between meetings - I think this kind of use fosters friendships more quickly and that is cool! But the 24/7 facebook/twitter use is not good.

I bet it annoys you to get a computer when you call a company, too? I do. I just repeat "operator" or press "0" until I get a human 99% of the time.

Considering how slow it is here.. go OT! lol

One gal was tickled pink - she lost all her pics when her basement flooded 14 years ago, she hasn't seen a pic of herself as a teen in years.

Yeah, the forum is definitely nice to keep in touch with people in between meetings. I've definitely made some friends that I met on here. I just didn't consider them friends until we met and got to chill and chat for a while. I'm definitely looking forward to the frybabies trip, becauseI had a blast at the picnic. Its nice to have time to talk to people and hang out outside of the meetings. Before the summer break I was kind of frustrated about not having meetings for a while, but now I see that the extracurricular activities do much more to facilitate friendships and bonding between group members. We got to talk about stuff other than fish (even though we did talk about fish alot).
I definitely hate getting a computer when I call anywhere. Seems like people are getting replaced by computers or robots more and more. I don't want to press 1 for information, I want to ask you a question. It can take 30 seconds to get an answer from a human, but it can take 30 minutes with a computer and still not find the info you're looking for. Things are definitely changing with the times. I've met 10 year old more computer savvy than myself. I guess we all have to evolve or at least try to keep up.

Theres no way I could ever pass up on Tool iv seen them in Dallas before too always a sick show. Im sure Godsmack is a good show too I hope they do the Sully Erna vs Shannon Larkin drum battle for ya.

Sick! I would love to see Tool in concert. They're one of my favorite bands which I have yet to see live.

I didnt know you were into them or I would seen if you wanted to go. Tool is by far my favorite band ever. Im the biggest nutswinger for Danny Carey his drum skills are outta this world. They throw the best show Iv ever seen. They had a craaaaazy lazer/light show and they had 3 huuuuge screens with all kinds of Alex Gray artwork and videos. The stage was white and also had all kinds of visuals projected on it. During Lateralus they had the drummer for Tweak Bird (Lazer Leach) come out and jammed with Danny Carey. The whole show was instense. The coolest part was when at the end they fogged the whole arena and shined all the lights white onto the crowd and there wasnt a single arm that wasnt in the air. Alright im getting all kinds of excited already! Ill stop here lol :party0007:

I really like Tool, but I'm not a huge fan in that I don't know all of thier stuff. The songs I've heard I really like tho.
The first time I saw Godsmack they were opening for Metallica and Sully & Shannon played the drum battle then as well as all the other times I've seen em... they better do it this time too. It is an awesome part of the show!!! Shannon is actually from around these parts, hometown hero even!!!

Glad the Tool show was amazing, I've never heard anyone say anything less about one of thier shows... one of these days I'll have to experience it first hand. ;)

Yeah, I've liked them for a long time. I've seen "most" of my favorite bands already live, but Tool is one that is missing. In addition so are Rage Against the Machine, Deftones, Metallica and Korn I have not seen yet. But then there are the bands which I'll never see live because half of the members have already passed.
