Signs of Red Devils breeding

Hey I don't anything about breeding fish but I wanted to know if anyone could tell me about Red Devils breeding habits or signs to look for.

Usually one of the first signs with open water spawners is they will start cleaning a spawning site. Then closer to spawning you will see the tubes drop.

There also will likely be some lip locking, which you need to keep an eye on.

For me, my male literally barracaded my female in the spawning spot (a flower pot), and if she EVER left it, he'd chase her down and force her back in. Also, her orange and white patterns are very pronounced. It is odd, because I never new they did this before, but when I had to separate them once, the female turned the typical reddish-white. But once I paired them back up, and the business started, she followed a pattern similar to the creamsicle male.

Yeah one of the devils has cleared out a spot by the heater and has been guarding it for days. I haven't seen any tubes or anything tho

I've heard that the early warning sign is all the other tankmates found shredded...

With mine, the coloration of both is enhanced. They swim together a lot and drive off others.

Yeah the behavior that had me wondering has stopped they are back to swimming regularly around the tank instead of guarding one area
