I just purchased a 75 gallon tank and am reading all the posts about how to fill it.

First question

Can you do shell dwellers and sand sifters in the 4' tank or is that a nono?

Where are you planning on getting your sandsifters? I'm in Alexandria, VA and am on the lookout, particularly for some Xenotilapia sp. ochragenys Ndole

I think longstockings had or has some. If not Dave from Dave's rare fish should have some.

Not the best idea. Can it be done? Sure... but I personally wouldn't do it.

I still have many of the original neothauma shells, straight from the lake in stock. $1.50 each, $15 for a dozen.

I get my shells from cichlidbreeding.com, but Julies $1.50 neothauma shells are a good price (a full $1.00 lower than cichlidbreeding.com)

I got mine from her too. They're sweet.

Plus, she's family. :)

That should actually work out just fine. It's one of the exceptions of two shellies that can work in a 4 foot or larger tank.
