Selective Breeding

I have livebearers that include endlers (crayfish buddies ;) ), swordtails, mollies, platys and, guppies (original 6 fish were feeders that a turtle didn't eat). I've always just let my livebearers breed at will, so to speak. But I have an itch to try my hand at selective breeding. I've decided to go with guppies and will be picking out my first pair tomorrow (I have a coupon for a free pair of the super fancy ones at Congressional). I was admiring how pretty they were just last weekend and I got a coupon for them today! :D I figure the guppies will be the easiest to start with and experiment with for the different patterns and traits. Also my tank size is limited and guppies are small. If I really like selective breeding and gain enough expertise in the area, I'll eventually move on to bigger and better fish.

I've done a ton of research (I research things that interest me to obsessive ends) and I have the breeder tanks all set up and ready to go. I was just wondering if anyone else on the forum was really into selective breeding and would be willing to share some of their experiences (good or bad).

I've never selectively bred anything but I do remember someone on the forum that used to use the method to develop nice colored L. leleupi.
