is this normal? My big rainbow cichlid male came with a female and they've been together for about a year raising babies. They are pretty dysfunctional much of the time and he usually chases her away from baby-sitting duties.
Then he ditched her and went with a much smaller female (his daughter, but don't tell him that) and they did a great cooperative job of raising babies.
Until he gave her the boot on Saturday and now is guarding eggs from the original mate again.
Sigh. too much drama for me. Is this normal? There is a second male in the tank, but while he's definitely interested, neither female is giving him her number . ..
