I am thinking about starting a demasoni tank, but I have 10 rusties in the tank now. My plan is to have over 70 pounds of slate in the tank.will my tank be able to hold that? Well back to my main question. Will my little rusties be ok with the demasoni for a little while? With all that rock I think they can hide

How big is the tank, how big are the rusties, and how big will the demasoni be?

55 gallon. Rusties are 1"-2" and demasoni will be 2" and under. Only hoping to have 3-4 male demasoni if that and a bunch of fm. I may end up moving rusties to a grow out tank

demasoni are pretty agressive, I have a group of 8 in a 29 and they won't stop beating
the crap out of each other. I think your rusties might get killed. The tank will defenitely
be able to hold all that slate.

john, your tank will definitely hold the rock..just be sure to stack them nicely to avoid them slipping and making a crack on the tank bottom.. depending on how many demasoni you have, hiding places your rusties and demasoni may get along fine.. its a good thing to "overstock" with mbuna so aggression can be controlled in some way..it prevents a certain fish from being chased to extreme stress and death by "losing" it in the crowd.. good luck!

In my experience the more the better. Just be wary of filtration and water changes to maintain water quality. Demasoni are good with 12 or more..and 4 yellow labs are not so bad with the group with your rusties. That's just my two cents..

Put some egg crate on the bottom of the tank first and you will have no worries

I think that yellow labs, rusties and demasoni will be absolutely fine in a rocked up 55. If I had to pick three colorful easier species for a 55, that would be it. Aggression should be fine in a 4 footer and you will have near zero chance of hybridization given big enough groups.
