For about 2 weeks my big ole male Nic has not been doin well. He's about 10 now. He lays on the bottom and sometimes on his side. He can swim but not too long. He breathes heavy with open mouth

I figured I would wake up and he would be dead but he seams the same. He does eat as seen in the vid (sorry I should have opened the food bag before filming)

Should I euphenize him or let him be? What would you do?

Jmo but I'd let him be. I've only had a few fish last till old age got em. Had a midas do the same thing and when he was at about the point yours is he lasted a few more months. Until he appears to be suffering or a victim I would let him live. After ten years I might even set him up a 20G retirement tank to chill by himself maybe play some solitare.

hey man let him hang in there unless you can truely tell he is suffering. i had Big Red for 10 years and his last couple of weeks were hard but i did enjoy the fact that i didnt have to put him down and regret it.

Thanks all. He is doing the same but basically cant float. He is eating really well and swims up to get floating pellets.
