Plecos can survive so much

About a month ago my male oachita map turtle died. I feel really bad because after he died I checked params and nitrate was 140 ppm. I just got to draining down his tank today. I reach in to get some rocks out and I see a little black shape zip through the water. I dont know what it is or where it went so I keep taking out rocks. I see it again. I trap it in a corner and pick it up and I remember, about 6 months ago I put in a 1 inch baby clown pleco but for all this time I thought the turtle ate him. Well, I was wrong. I pulled out a big pudgy clown pleco. He must have doubled if not tripled in size. This thing survived a turtle harrasing him, super high nitrates, and no filtration for over a month. Any one else have crazy "survivor" stories?

I had a tank leak. I pulled out all gravel and filled two buckets with it. A week later, I got a replacement tank. When I was added the gravel back, I found a cory cat and otto cat alive. They were trapped in the bucket and covered with only wet gravel for a week.

Thats crazy!
I got another one: When I was helping my art teacher setup a reef tank he got on craigslist, he said it incuded a neon dotty back and a clownfish. He said when he was at the sellers house they couldnt find them anywhere so in all (except for one) of the bins with rock and coral they filled up with water just in case thats where the stow-aways where hiding. We open the box with no water first and to our surprised we see the dotty back and the clownfish squashed under a rock. We put them in a sandwich bag filled with water and hope for the best. The clownfish was defenitely not going to survive because the gills where heavily bleeding and his eyes looked flattened and misshapen so we threw him out. The dotty back wasnt moving so he tells me to throw him out. I reach in to grab him and suddenly his fins start moving. I kept him in the bag thinking he'll probably die but giving him one more chance wont hurt. About an hour later I go back to check on him and believe it or not, he was swimming around! That little dotty back is still alive and well today.

I was cleaning a xp2 canister filter and went to remove the sponge pads and in between the 2 was a 1.5" nic. Never saw any spawning activity in the tank nor fry before and she was trapped in between the 2 pads for months I'm guessing to grow to that size.

She is about 4 " now and doing great after starting life living in a filter.

Ive had some sort of tetra live through a renovation. We were moved out for 3 months and left his little 5g tank set up in the basement crawlspace. When we came back, he was miraculously still alive, though I was convinced the workers gave him some sort of food.
