I'm really new to plants.

I set up a 65g with Anubias and Java Fern. What are the basic requirements to keep the plants healthy and growing?
The Val are fake.

Anubias do not require much light. Too much will result in green spot algae developing on the leaves. They do not do well with the roots in the substrate. Instead (like you did), attach them to wood or rock. In time they will latch on. They take nutrients primarily through the water column. Since you only have one plant, I would not recommend dosing with ferts. It is likely that your water will contain enough trace elements that, so long as you are doing frequent large water changes, this will be enough for the plant.

Actually, you have two plants, if there is a Java Fern in there, but Andrewtfw's advice applies equally to that situation.

Keep them wet, that is to say, basically none. With those as your two candidates, it's a little bit like asking how to breed bunnies - you may safely expect all manner of success.
