Photo Workshop: What Would You Like to Figure Out?

I have been going through old photos tonight and thinking about what I want to share in Photoshop as well as what I think I'm good at and can improve at in terms of photography, to help structure the workshop a week from Saturday.

I'm wondering, for those who are going to attend the workshop - and ideas from those who can't make it - as a fish photographer, what is it you want to know about, struggle with, are working on, wonder about?

This can be as specific or general as you want. Helps me think about what we can do, and if anyone feels like it we can certainly open a discussion on any specific topic on the forum in addition!

If I was going, I would want to learn how to edit out water spots/artifacts from the image. Wish I could come!

Thanks for the feedback. I have a few thoughts on these that I'll share after Saturday - not because I'm holding out on y'all but more because I expect to learn and exchange ideas that I think will make the content better for when I do share it.

I am hoping to distill some of the main "aha" stuff so that anyone who was interested and couldn't make it can see if there's something that benefits them.

Along similar lines... if there is anyone who is coming, and you want to load up some photos on my computer to work on editing, feel free to bring a USB, or email them to me in advance at WendyFish1337@gmail.com. Just please note Photo Workshop in the subject or email somewhere so I don't mistake them for PotM. ;)

A couple of things on my "wrestling with" list lately...

I've never taken a whole tank shot that I was fully happy with. Balancing brightly lit tanks with the ambient room light and colors, at a shutter speed that doesn't blur the fish out - would love to learn how others take good full tank shots.

Have been wrestling with tropheus mating shots. When they get shimmying I can't get the shutter fast enough to freeze them crisp. I took close to a hundred shots last weekend and got one that I thought was sort of ok. I am usually in a rush thinking I'll lose the photo op so don't put my full off camera ensemble together. That's probably the ticket but have to experiment some.

Lots of good thoughts to get our minds stirring. A dark room usually makes things easier. Multiple flashes are helpful and good old photoshop helps if all else fails

I'm still on the fence with work so I don't know if I'll make it but will try.
