I know I'm green, and can read some other threads that I couldn't before, but I assume there's something better than just having my name in green?

You get to participate in group buys,
If you come to the meetings, you are automatically entered in 90 gal tank give away,
When you sell stuff in the auction you get 99% of your proceeds ( the club keeps $1)

If you sell 10 items for $90 at the mini-auctions, you end up breaking even on your dues for the year. Most group buys have a 10% discount, so spending $200, means you break even on those.
A lot of member only deals end up paying for your dues for the year(or more).

I say being green by itself is worth $20. There should be a referral credit I am willing to bet in under a day you could convince Steve that he has to be a member.
