I would post it on apistogramma.com and ask Mike Wise what it is. He is the foremost expert of Apistogramma that I know. Any others or just this lone contaminant?

25 - 30 years ago that is how we used to find new apistos. We would go to the wholesalers and importers and pull them out of tetra tanks. That is where Apistogramma macmasteri and Apistogrammoides pucallapaensis was discovered. The macmasteri I believe we found at an importer in Baltimore and the pucallapaensis was found at a shop by the name of Seabreeze in Baltimore. We kept pairs of each and sent others off to Sven Kullander to ID. Fun times, it is much easier to get them today than it was back then.

At the program Mike gave on Saturday he said they collected pucallapaensis. Mike if you see this, are there any available or is anyone breeding them. That is the only "Apisto" that I would like to have.

Yep...I've had some of those in the past. Not the easiest to get to spawn. Much more difficult then the iniridia. They sometimes also come in with apisto. aggies or I should say what are supposed to be aggies.

I've got a pair of something that was mixed in with some wild apistos. Can't remember what the heck the are though...Lonny you need to come visit my fish room. They are a small cichlid but I'm not positive which one.

That is the fun of getting in the wild fish...there is almost always a stow-away in the bags.

I have Apistogrammoides pucallepeansis I collected in the same spot in 2008. I didn't bring any back from this trip since I'm breeding the ones I have. The males in breeding color pack amazing colors into a small package.

If you are interested in some we collected this year contact John Patterson - he had a couple bags full of them.
