Is anyone else a member and attending one of the member-only evenings to preview the Blacktip Reef exhibit before it opens?

We are heading down the evening of the 22nd. I will be sure to snap some pics and share.

The winds in the water exhibit was my favorite. I was last there in December and talked to some of the workers about the new exhibit. I'm very excited for it. Glad that they are keeping Calypso. She had really become a signature of the place

I used to be a volunteer diver there and got to feed the rays in the Wings in the Water exhibit among other things. It was awesome!

That is awesome! Always wanted to do that myself but I am not dive certified. I looked into it but never went through it... One of these days I guess.

I went to the National Aquarium over the weekend and saw the new Blacktip Reef shark exhibit, and was truly amazed. They have 20 juvenile blacktips, 2 large zebra sharks, a few rays, and calypso remains as an old favorite. They said there are currently 700 fish in the exhibit (batfish, tangs, angels, etc.) but they're planning to add another 500 fish or so for its final stocking. I was able to take a video of the exhibit from the lower viewing area which is posted below. I also took a few pictures, but nothing that came out great. Hope you enjoy the video:

I saw it to it's awesome! I have some bad news about the amazon tank though, I see the labe on the top of the tank and on the stock list one of the fish listed was chocolate cichlids. And since I have a massive choco who is my pride and joy (next to my silver aro) I was excited to see more so I ask the lady (she was head of the rainforest department, or at least thats what her name tag said) where they where 'cause I didn't see any and she points to 2 cichlids. But they aren't chocolates! They where true parrot cichlids or "Hoplarchus Psitticus". I know most people wouldn't be too ticked off but for some reason I was really mad. I guess this hobby is getting to my head.
