from Scales (now outta business sadly)

Went a little over the top on randomly placed decorations...
1003151r.jpg

Hated the look of the tank so added fake hollow log which jags loved
1003219c.jpg

Removed the log due to mating aggression that caused rehoming of oscars and JD
1024236.jpg

and finally current setup soon to be torn down upon rehoming of jaguar cichlids for a mixed setup of africans in my 150g

Great shots. Love the setup with the huge group of johani.

Cool. How are they in terms of aggression compared to johanni?

I personally havent had the experience of raising johanni's so i couldnt compair aggresion in that case, i'd say they arent near as aggresive as some species for example the Labeotropheus fuelleborni (OB) in the tank is the most aggresive of the bunch but they can hold there own against him.

Thats my main breeding female maingano with the male under her closer to the substrate.

As luck would have it she has a mouth full of eggs this morning =D

Congrats on the spawn.

I got thrown off by the vertical bars, but taking a second look I see the horizontal striping. I had thought that fish was a male and the gray fish to the right was a female.

The first thing it says in its cichlid-forum profile is that it is often confused with M. johanni :) It does sound like a cool fish, pretty, not too big and not too mean.
