Melaleuca/Pimenta oil

Treated a 100 containing several hundred newly emerged Nicaraguan fry (again) with each of our recently acquired oils at 1 drop/gallon for two days. Cloudy eye on Papa Gumby cleared up within a matter of hours and the fry didn't even trip. Am trying to vaporize an odd but persistent lesion on one of my G. altifrons but thought to let everyone now that: (1) oils appear to be safe/effective, and; (2) oils disperse and go into solution on their own without use of an emulsifier even though small bubbles of oil can initially be observed - probably helps that there's good surface mixing on this tank from canister outflow.

Thanks Sam
I am about to "oil" my 180gl tank, trying to get rid of a re-occurring Parasite/fungus/bacteria not sure what it is
But my fishes seems to get skinny although they feed well, They will get some legions, fin rot, hole in the head of some sort growing on them can’t really explain it
But it will happen to one or two of my fishes in the tank ever so often, everything I tried so far don’t seem to help, eventually I have to get rid of that fish :(
Hope this will help

I assume this is the same stuff as melafix that is for bacterial infections? The active ingrediant looks the same. I used some of that yesterday on a fry that had a small bite on its side from a tankmate. It says to treat for 5ml per 10g for 7 days and then do a 25% water change. Also says to use Primafix for Fungal issues. They claim that this is a good thing to treat the tank with for when you add a new fish that may be stressed, wounded or rotted fins to your tank. I will let you know the results. So far the fish is swimming around like nothing is even wrong with him. I agree the smell is very nice and I may even use some to cover the smell of some fluidized filters that give off an earthy smell.

Wasn't slight

I put 100 drops of each in my 100 when it was refilling and still less than a third full. My ABNs got very woozy, so yes. They were right as rain a couple hours later. Figured it was on account of being so heavily dosed because the tank hadn't filled so didn't think anything amiss other than I.

So are you doing a drop per gallon for regular maintenance, or are you currently treating something?

And any remote clue how many drops are in the vials? Just trying to guesstimate how long these guys will last my fish corner.

Ok. Yes, mine completely recovered, too, but I was just wondering if I had done something wrong. Seemed to hit the catfish harder than the others, but I was quite stunned to walk by my mbuna tank and see everyone peacefully hanging out near the bottom. I was tempted to get my camera because it was the only time I've ever seen some of them still enough to take pictures!

I'm using it to treat a tank with a bunch of frayed fins and one with the beginnings of a wound in her side.
