I keep the ones I caught in the Amazon - nice school of about 25. Join me on the next trip to collect some - sign up at the Catfish Convention.

i usually have some, not right now though.

They are jumpy, but do well with plant cover.

After my surgery its likely I will get more in.

Tell me about them being Jumpers. I got a dozen or so from Rachel and more than half of them jumped out of the tank. I guess they didn't like my tank.

My new tank has a tight fitting lid -- my first -- thus my desire to get hatchets. Of course, I hope they don't jump out when I open the lid to feed or clean the tank! I only have fake plants, the background ones reach to the waterline, but I don't have floating plants. ARe they absolutely necessary for the hatchets to be happy?

I don't think I'll plan a trip to SA to get any though!!!

no, not necessary if you have a nice lid :)

They won't jump out during feeding, but you have to be cautious when working in the tank with the lid open :)

Got a school of 10 last night from Congressional. I  them!!!! Rainbow cichlids do sort of "poke" at them when they swim lower in the tank, but that's all. They are swimming in the current of the filter, which blows them around a bit.

This is a 40 breed wiht four rainbow cichlid teenagers and two very small ABNs. Could I boost my school to 12-14???

Rachel -- Oh, I thought since I needed so few you wouldn't be ordering them for me . . .

I went back to get more and they're all sold out. They're getting a second shipment soon, apparently. I'll get another four.
