I find myself giving advice to aspiring digital photographers using the point and shoot model cameras, but I don't use this type cam. So I thought I would try to practice what I preach. I took a few shots today with my wife's Kodak Easyshare DX4530. Man, what a world of difference after shooting with a DSLR for the last year.
My biggest problem was the flash refectiing me on the glass. I diffussed the flash with a double layer of bathroom tissue taped over the flash lens.
I was surprised how well many of them turned out. Unfortuntely, my reflection ruined most of the shots. Here are a few that I was able to crop out fairly easily.
And here is the same fish I shot a couple days ago with the D70 and 60mm macro lens using the SB800 wireless flash over the tank.
I think the moral of the story is this...
We all can take decent photos with a point and shoot style camera. However, taking better photos can be accomplished easier with the DSLR....as long as you know how to use it.
