looking at this Aquarium with scratches?

no longer listed so I guess its sold. my experience with acrylic - if you run you fingernail over the scratches and its deep enough for you fingernail to 'catch' then its going to be a pain to get out.

I guess to answer your question, it really doesn't matter how deep it is, technically you CAN remove it. but its going to be A LOT of work.
