I have a number of large fish available for adoption.
First, I have a school of Leporinus affinis available. This is NOT a fish for the beginner. These specimen were personally collected by me in the Rio Nanay in Peru during August of 2011. They were all about 2" at the time. They are stunning in color, with black bands, yellow to orange vertical stripes, and the larger individuals have developed red patches on their throats. They are reported to be fin nippers with smaller fish, but I have not had that problem, probably becasue they are in a large group, which allows aggression to be distributed. They will definitely jump, and the tank should be well covered. They are omnivores bt should be fed algae wafers on a regular basis.
Second, one other fish I collected in Peru but have not been able to identify. S/he is about 8" and acts like the Leporinus. She wouldn't hold still, so I have no picture.
Third, one large male convict, free to a good home. He is missing an eye and is the most peaceful member of this tank.
Fourth, several Bala sharks, Balantiocheilos melanopterus. Bala sharks are very active and require a large aquarium with lots of swimming space. They do best in groups of 3 or more. They are also jumpers.
Fifth, two catfish, I think they are pictus. One is not quit 6", the other probably 8"
There are other fish hiding in the tank that you can look at when you get here: BN plecos and I think a striped raphael cat.
Local buyer only. Pickup only. Fish are in Annandale, VA 22003. I will not ship.
Sorry about the quality of the photos. Best I could do with my phone.
