Just Got Some New Toys

Thought I would share a couple of shots of the new toys Acarichthys heckelii (Threadfin acara).

My boss just surprised me with a bag of fish I've wanted for awhile.

I'll try and get some better shots later.

Warm water, lots of food and water changes...and the right spawning set-up (submerged PVC) and maybe they'll spawn!

I have some of those I picked up a couple of years ago. You will wind up with only one male. Breeding is fairly difficult but it can be done. After they spawn he will generally kill her though. I guess they don't like to pay child support.

LOL, you're right George! They don't like paying child support at all. The same thing happened to my Red Empress, but just a little different. I had taken out the female after spawning in order to spare her life, which I did for about 3 months and then when I reinserted her with the Red Empress (Red Emperor), he killed within 1 hour. I guess he must of thought she was coming back to collect on child support.
