Jack dempsy question

So I have had a jack dempsy for a year or two now and it has severely injured and/or killed every cichlid I have tried to put with it. Recently a friend gave me his jack dempsy and I put the two together. My jack has not hurt the new jack at all. Every so often it thrusts its body in dominance. After looking at pictures i can not tell the difference between males and females. Can anyone help? The one facing the left is the new jack and the other facing the right is my original jack.

Pics are really fuzzy but I am going to say female. It does not have much for color on the gill plate like most females do, but the solid blue on the edge of the plate and what looks like blue patches on the lower jaw make me think female.

Could you post a cleaner pic?

With the clearer pics it does appear to be a male.
