Jack taking potshots at my Oscar and sh*t!

Aw naw, HECK naw! If you told me a couple months ago, that I'd have a tank where an Oscar was the star of the show, I'd a told you, you were crazy. And yet, here we are.

Option 1... split up the bonded pair, to shut down the territorial mumbo jumbo, and the girl gotta go...

Option 2... see option 1, but the male gotta go...

Option 3... let the bonded pair continue to live happily ever after... in somebody ELSE'S tank!

That male is big and beautiful... but dude is over stepping his bounds now. Somebody... or SOMEBODIES... gotta bounce... which way would you all go? I want to keep my promise to James that these two get a good home... but seriously, something's gotta change in the next few days before he damages my O. Even if that means to the LFS with him!

(curious side note... still NOBODY pays any attention to the angels! Even the harmoned out male JD!)

Temporarily I would put the male in the 33 gallon tank.

When the juves in your 150 get some size you might be able to put the female there and re-introduce the male to the 125.

Hmmm.... good thought. I'll give that a go...

But if someone is interested, let me know anyway. I'm cool with trading the pair, for one 4 inch or larger fish that would go well in the 125, depending on that fish... but in the meantime, I will give your idea a try... thanks... good suggestion!

Would hate to say I told you so :p If you haven’t been able to house them by the meeting I might be able to setup new housing for them. I am a firm believer that some fish were just born to be a bully lol Gotta love a fish that is calm enough to be handfed but angry enough to take on a fish of any size.

I know... it's crazy. dude comes right to the top when I'm feeding, and I can literally drop a pellet right in his mouth! LOL... it's him and the oscar... I always drop the pellets for them first, pretty much in their mouths, before they let anyone else eat! Pretty funny stuff!

Hubby would *kill* me if I took on a bonded pair... He sounds like my kind of Dempsey, too. Be aware, if you break the bond it could get really ugly if you pair them up again. My male almost killed the female after the bond broke.

I really like him... he is a pretty fish! And so far, the oscar does not seem to be damaged from the potshots... but I am becoming concerned, as I don't want him to become damaged.

That said, if I split them up, I would not let them get back together. The female would live in the 150, and the male would live in the 125. I'm kinda liking the idea...

Well, he probably won't be as vibrant as he is now, if they are moving into breeding he is probably spectacular! Whereas, she will look better lol. Dempsey girls get really drab after egg laying lol.

He may never fully attack the O - but if he does it probably won't be pretty. Like I said, my girl barely survived it. It would be a shame to break the bond - they really are fascinating in all their spawning glory! I really don't think there are better parents in the cichlid world... lol but then, I'm biased as all get out to my Dempsey!
