Great vid. So are the eggs on the sand and then put in the shell? Or does she lay them in there and he just flings his stuff in the shell?

Not the greatest picture, but you can see whats going on here. The female lays the eggs inside the shell and then entices the male to milt near the opening of the shell. She then fans the milt inside and presumably over the eggs.

Fascinating! That gives me an idea. I'm going to try to get my Crenicichla proteus to spawn through eggcrate by putting half a pvc pipe against it. She is such a black widow. She almost killed him once. Now her belly is nice and cherry.
