He definitely looks like one, but never seen one with a white stripe going across the body.

Yes but the stripe appears to be really bad lateral line erosion (likely from dirty water).

looks like the right species in question, maybe it fell asleep next to a grafiti artist?
They are a tough breed so though I cant say much more from looking at this singular photo I would say if there is some type of infection/issue, and you keep the cats in clean water they are prone to recover rather well. At least it is out and swimming around. Be prepared for it to get a bit larger, maybe 8-9 inches.

I've kept Eupterus in the past, so I know how much bigger he could get. Anyhow, he is very active and eats well. I will see if the white stripe does away under my care.
