Im buying an american alligator!

This may seem REALLY extreme but i found a american alligator in a 55 gallon for $100. May get it. From what i read they only grow few inches a year from trusted sources. He is only 8-10 inch now... OBVIOUSLY too big for that 55g LOL! I have a enclosure i was gonna use for a tegu (which i will not purchase if i get this guy...) i could easily add a large plastic pool to for swimming for the guy.
Gonna have to give away a majority of my collection like my RTC and give up on the arowana cause this guy will be my new pet, replacement for my awesome pit. RIP George :'(

Anyways what do you guys think? The though of owning one is just CRAZY.

Oh and if u do not believe me i will post pic of it.

Well since it's illegal in Maryland to own one I'd say your should not buy it. if you do I wouldn't post about it in a forum

The dude apperantly has "paperwork". I agrew though. As cool as it seems to have an alligator it will be bad for the animal in the long run. I am going to contact the catoctin zoo tomorrow cause they take many "pet alligators" to exhibit. If they can take it i will buy it and donate it. I cant stand the thought of it in a 55 gallon :(

My uncle had one as a pet with a big metal fence ghetto if you will, enclosure back in the 60s when his girlfriend got him a baby one as a present in florida. They didn't have much money.

Thats why i will not be able to confirm or deny any outcome of this situation.
The guy selling it is openly posting it on a local animals site though claims to have a permit which i do not
Believe.

Well since the "permit" isn't transferable him being allowed to own it does nothing for the person that buys it. and reading the actual law and seeing who's legally allowed to own one he would know that so he probably has no such license

I would call myself both. But the alligators are not "advanced". That sounds like a petsmart ranking. These are expert only which i will admit i am not (yet) and i do not think that a single
Person on this forum could realistically
Keep this gator for LIFE.
