I am looking for a ideas on how to make or what to use for a canopy for a 75G no brace. I have even considered making a faux brace just for the glass tops to sit on.

Well

I'd use acryic/plexiglass. You could even "hinge" it using something as simple as an 1/8" drill bit and waxed thread/ fishing line. I have some extra plastic "spacers" (the things hat slip on to the back of the glass tops that you cut to fit around the filters, etc.) I'd be willing to donate to your endeavor although you could cut your back sections to fit whatever set-up you want and not need such. If you go this route just get some sheeting that's thick enough that it doesn't bow in on itself.

I get 3/16" thick glass cut to size and put a regular piece of plastic hinge in the middle. I have hinge and backsplash strip on hand if you need a piece. Plexi will bow/sag IME, lexan is much better but quite a bit more expensive than glass or plexi. A dab of epoxy to cement a drawer pull knob from Lowe's or Home Depot for a handle.
