How long does it take you?

Last night Kevin and I spent 6 1/2 hours taking pictures for the Aquafest. I guess we helped the time go by with some fish talk as well as stopping a few times here and there to watch that awesome game last night. I learned so much last night about taking fish pictures, I cant wait till I get my camera I will be posting pictures everyday lol. The reason why it took so long was because Kevin was trying to make me exceed past my amateur photographer skills and try to produce something close to Francine and Mikes level. The pictures are not on Francine or Mike’s level by any means but I am proud of them and I cant wait to show them to everyone this weekend.

Looking forward to seeing the photos!

Longest I have gone is about 2 hours. I have waited over an hour in front of a tank before I took the FIRST photo. You will start getting picky about your shots as you gain some more experience.

I'm click happy - and don't have the right flashes to do aquariums - so I spend an average of 15-20 minutes taking an average of 100 shots every 10 minutes or so. Then I download them to see if I got any good shots. Rinse and repeat... until I've got the shots I want. I use the RAW format - if I do more than 100 at a time it takes forever to upload to my computer - I keep every shot - good or bad - archived.

This year, I'm going to ask my family for gift certificates to B&H - need to get the right flash setup!

I used to shoot in film - wasn't unusual for me to use 2-3 (or more) rolls of film per shooting. Yeah, it got pricey.

Mike let me tell after the flash I would look at the picture and get all excited and "That’s the one". Kevin would look at it and say "NA not there yet, I'll let you know when it's there". At first I was like what is this guy talking about, but after a while I started to see what he was talking about. I think taking photography is very dangerous, meaning I could see it being very addictive and that s only bad because of the coast of the hobby.

Jose you are so right, my girlfriend is my budget LMAO just joking. It’s a good thing she doesn’t check this forum and see what I am saying lol.:D
