Next thing you know, I'll be watching fishin' shows!
Last nights show was pretty cool - it was all about hand fishing. Mainly about Noodling. Never heard of it before, in the vernacular "durn fool were wrasslin an tossin' big ole catfish in thair boats!" Talk about your dedicated extreme fishermen (and a couple of women, too)
For the uniformed (like I was) they dive under the water (most with no scuba gear) poke around in a muddy river bottom until a 40-60 pound cat chomps onto the divers hand (swallowing it to the elbow, lots of times) and then he has to wrangle it back up to the surface and then to the boat.
There was another bit about silver carp in some river. They fly when startled. It was called the Redneck Tournament (or something close) THat was just funny. Huge fish were flying everwhere and they were catching them with nets or by hand. THe funniest was the guy in the bow of the boat smacking at them with a club - he about ended up in the drink a couple of times.
