The mellow variant of jewel cichlids, still a nice bright crimson but seem to be smaller and are considerably less aggressive than regular Hemis. Ended up with three spawning pairs from six juveniles, these have already spawned three times in as many months and as I have a tankful of fry from another pair these are available. Protective parents but had these in with juvenile angels without any issues. Don't seem to need a lot of room, likely they'd spawn in a 15 or even a 10, and undoubtedly again in a community tank given some excuse for a semi-secluded corner.
Can bring to next meeting, even trade for the best houseplant that isn't a philodendron.
If anyone has an extra hanging plant basket (or two) and/or hangars for same, I have some plants that need re-potting. Thanks.
