Hap. "crimson Red"

Ok, I periodically see advertised for sale (either on-line or, more rarely, in stores) a Victorian cichlid called Haplochromis "crimson red." So, just what is this? Is it a form of kribensis or is it in the category of "we have no idea" or is it one of those catch-all names that is applied rather loosely to anything that is, well, crimson?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,
It is from Lake Victoria in East Africa, and is the cover fish on the most recent issue of "Cichlid News".

Thanks, Daniel. Safe to say that I will be quite pleased if these guys end up looking like the one one the cover of _CN_. (But, the horizontal striping in mine is a bit stronger . . . .) Oh well, half the fun is seeing them grow.
Cheers,
Steve

Argh!

Quietly hanging out in a 20-gal., "Mom" apparently got bored and ate her eggs.

I guess she "brooded" a bit too much!
