CCA Prez Tony arrived in Iquitos, Peru and is having a great time in town before getting on the boat this AM! He's with George, who been on a few trips to Peru.

He sends his regards:

Great day yesterday in Iquitos. This place is surely amazing. Tons of motorcycles, mopeds, and motocars (motorized rickshaws). Definitely need to look both ways before you cross the street.

Folks are very nice here, though lots of folks looking to sell things or make trades. We walked a lot last night... tons of awesome street vendors selling food (very Andrew Zimmer)... though with getting on the boat this morning, I was hesitant to try anything crazy the first day here, lol. We had Peruvian Pizza last night... very parm-heavy with no sauce. One flavor had bananas and papaya on it. It was fantastic. :)

We are getting on the boat this morning at 9, so will be out of contact until Friday. Will email you guys then, hopefully will be able to get more pictures attached.... the network here is spotty at best and doesn´t play too well with my Android. I´ve been taking tons of pictures so far.

Can't wait until her gets back with more stories and pictures!

Some day would love to go on a collecting trip...

Wow! I can only image the awesome time that Tony is having. So jealous...

Hubby told me that I can buy one of those $50 raffle tickets at the next conventions. So gonna buy one!

I bought a raffle ticket at the last Catfish Convention... didn't win but pretty much cemented my commitment to go some day!

I'm headed back to Uruguay in March 2014...it's really just a matter of getting some airline points, saving a few bucks...and doing it :)

It's really pretty dicey to try to do pre-order stuff for fish-you-haven't caught that may or may not be available from an exporter that may or may not make it through shipping... First trip: just enjoy yourself and soak it all in (and take plenty of picture, I hope)...
