Geophagus Help

I can't decide between Geophagus Altifrons or Dicrozosters. I'm trying to get some help on their tempermants. Are they peaceful, semi or aggressive? I think I've read that they are both peaceful but just checking.

I know there are at least 3 people who have kept altifrons, so should be able to get some direct feedback on their behavior.

Looking at the profiles on cichlid-forum.com they look to be similar in terms of temperment(peaceful). Dicrozosters is listed as having a max size of 8" where the altifrons can reach a foot.

I found my dicrozoster to be more aggressive towards each other than the altifrons or abalios. The big male dicrozoster I had ended up killing off most of his tank mates. Never had any issues with the altifrons or abalios.

I used to have some Dicros but they were small when I had to sell them so never got to see how they really act. I'm thinking about the Dicros though b/c they do stay smaller. At least I have until Sunday to decide.

Altifrons really need a good-sized tank to act naturally. They can be a little rough on each other but nothing like central americans.

I've never kept the others.

i have geophagus altifrons 'tocantins' and they are pretty mellow. i had 6 of them at around 4-5" in a 90 gallon and even after a pair formed the tankmates were pretty much ok. in the end i separated everyone because i want to try and raise fry but point is altifrons are pretty mellow.
years ago i had an altifrons that held itself up pretty well in a CA tank with convicts and other odds and ends. it was pretty feisty! i've heard that dicrozesters can get a bit on the aggressive side.
