Yes, I know this is aggression. These are two females, so that makes it extra sexy, right?

I don't think these guys are mouth-brooders at all, though. They seem to lay eggs on flat surfaces. I've had 3 different fish guard eggs and these were two of them. There are 2 other fish in the tank and one is definitely male and definitely was seen helping 2 different females with their eggs.

Of course, I never did see the eggs from the batch that actually produced fry, I just saw wigglers in the sand. I have a female guarding a cave and I know there were eggs in there last week, but I'm not sure if they're wigglers now or she's just guarding the cave out of confusion.

Got home from work and found a cloud of free swimming fry darting in and out of a cave these guys dig under a piece of slate.
