FS - Wild Caught Warmouth fish

Anyone interested in a few Warmouth fish? I caught a few in my minnow trap and they are about 2-3 inches. Attached is a stock photo from google of a larger one. They have brilliant colors and would do well in a tank. I’ve been keeping them in my 30 gallon container ponds to combat mosquitos and they are doing awesome. Eating pellets almost from my hand. I have about 10 available.

The Google image above is of a Green sunfish (Lepomis cyanellus) if that is indeed what you have. Either way, both species (or all sunfish IMO) are great looking. A solid bump for a cool, native fish that is VERY cichlid-like in behavior.

I stand corrected. Thank you. I do have some Warmouth Fish, but I’m keeping the two I have. The green sunfish are the ones I have extra of. They are still awesome and available for now. They will be fed to my bass or returned to the stream they came from if no one wants them.

I say feed them to the bass! (LM? SM? Peacock? ....and I haven't seen a good live feeding video in a whiile, Hint hint.) Releasing them isn't advisable as they *could* be a carrier of some pathogen they picked up in captivity and could introduce it to wild fish if released.

Did you have a native display with all the Lepomis? Did you keep any others (than the Warmouth/Green sunnies)?

Would be cool to have a tub/pond of native fish. Could really come in handy in a SHTF disaster type scenario. Sunfish look pretty nice when showing their full colors.

I didn’t have a display. I will soon after the move.

I have my big 235 gallon tub filled with largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and two oscars currently. I plan on eating the crappie and bluegill and replacing them with the green sunfish and Warmouth.
