Great video. I like how they take turns watching over the fry. How big are the parents and how big is the tank?

I like the large round rock, driftwood and silk plant aquascaping. I imagine it breaks up the tank really well for when the male wants to get aggressive.

I wish I had pills I could take to make me less goofy. I guess by Thursday I was really ready for the weekend and suffering from an extreme case of wishful thinking.

Anyway, I'm glad you guys liked the video. Those aren't my fish. Someone had posted that on youtube.

But I love to watch parental cichlids caring for their fry. I don't really care for mean or territorial fish, but I keep a couple of types of bi parental substrate spawners anyway, just because I like to watch them care for the fry. That, and because they turn red at spawning time.

I've got a big pair of haits that I got from Mike Hill.

It's a male and a female (different tubes). They're tubes come down. They jaw lock a lot. And sometimes the female (who's about and inch or two bigger) ends up pounding on the male...but no spawning to date.

I have them divided right now. Feeding heavily with spinach-laced super worms...and doing twice weekly water changes. We'll see!

In Konings book on Central American cichlids, he calls the "island predators" some of the most primitive (and those ancient) cichlids.

Cool fish (If I do say so myself)...
