Fish/Reptile Room

I am very excited to say that I will now have an entire room dedicated to my fish and reptiles! There have many changes around my house, one of which is my sister moved into an apartment in VA for law school. This allowed me to move my bedroom and dedicate my old bedroom to all my critters! :D

I am purchasing a shelving unit so that I can add additional tanks. For now my tanks will all most likely be 29 gallons and under (except for my Red Ear Slider's 55 gallon that he shares with a few Convict cichlids). I can't run any plumbing so I'll still be relying on my python, pump, and the occasional bucket for water changes but at least I'll have more room without a bed, desk, etc in there. I'm still working on the room but I should have it done within 2 weeks (hopefully) and I'll post pictures soon of my progress and current set ups.

So you're saying you'd rather have a dedicated reptile/fish room than live with your sister?

I'm okay with that.

Well when she moved out I was able to turn her old bedroom into my new bedroom which is pretty awesome. Plus she is less than an hour away and I see her quite often on weekends. Like next weekend when we go to Repticon!

Awesome! Im excited to see it, how many tanks do you think you'll have in total?

Honestly, I'm not 100% sure yet. I downsized over the summer so I am currently only running 2 29's, 1 10 gallon, and 3 2.5 gallons along with a 55 aquatic turtle tank, 10 gallon aquatic turtle tank, and 20L saltwater.

As I've planned things currently I should be able to have at the very least 55 gallon (probably Aulonocara), 2- 29's, 1-2 15's or 20's, 4-6 10's plus the two aquatic turtle tanks, and 20L saltwater. In addition to the fish, I have an adult leopard gecko rack, 1 hatchling/juvenile leopard gecko rack, 1 mixed-age/breeders leopard gecko rack, crested gecko cages, American Toad enclosure, 1 bearded dragon enclosure, and 1 Blue Tongue Skink enclosure.

Congrats!!!! Pics?

Pictures are to come soon! The room is a disaster currently but I will be working on it over the next couple of days and will slowly be adding tanks over the next few weeks.

Getting the room ready is definitely taking longer than I thought. However, I snapped pics of some of my currently set up tanks. These tanks are also a work n progress as they'll be moved within the room.

This is my 29 gallon community. The breeder net is holding panda guppy fry until they are big enough to be released into the tank. The inhabitants of the tank are Praecox rainbows, cherry barbs, Kuhli loaches, L144 pair, 1 Zig zag eel, and 1 African dwarf frog. The frog was in a species tank but is the only one left. He does really well in this tank. I'm planning on doing another ADF tank and he'll move in with some new friends.

The eel is one of the smaller species and has never even attempted to eat a fish that I know of. I had it by itself and never saw it but in this tank I see almost daily.

29 gallon Krobia tank.
For the life of me I cannot get plants to live in this tank. Between the Krobia and BNs every type of plant I've tried has been destroyed.

It's not the BN, it's the Krobia. I've kept Najas and hornwort in my BN tanks with no problems until I started tossing in random cichlid fry I found in other tanks. The wee buggers slowly eat the live plants as they grow.
I finally found a use for the old 55 with black lacquer stand, I have a pair of yearling Dominican red mountain boa's coming Friday.
