Filtration question

So I am in process of setting up a 125 gallon african cichlid aquarium. But my question is, is there such a thing as too much filtration? I have the chance to get a great deal on a brand new pond filter with a UV sterilizer. It would be cheaper than a brand new canister filter. But is that filter too much filtration?

I don't think you can have too much. If it is a good deal, go for it.

Pond filters are different animals

Not sure it will work for an aquarium, depends on the design
