EX-Cichilasoma Festae questions

Will Ex-Cichilasoma Festae males actually reach 20" in captivity? Will a 90 gallon setup work for one pair or a trio? Thanks.

I've never seen a 20" male, but they will get some size I them. I would be nervous about a 90 if they aren't divided. More than likely would end up with a beaten up female.

They aren't able to cohabitate with females? Or will the tank size exacerbate the issue?

Agree with Jon. Never seen a male quite that big, but may ultimately want a 6 foot tank for the pair.

A 20" festae would be a monster....never seen one that big but anything's possible. They typically max out at maybe 14" or so.

They're pair fish, so a 3rd wheel would typically be beaten by one or the other (or both).

The best way to get a stable pair is to grow out a group of 6 or so. A 90g would be good for that. Once you have a pair, a 6' tank's going to be necessary...and certainly not a guarantee that they won't off each other.

Thanks for all the info. Its a future any anyway. I want a 100+ gallon tank but that will have to wait until the basement if complete.
