donate / cheap sell full setup aquarium?

I had 6 beautiful aquariums for 10 years and had all types of freshwater and african cichlids. Unfortunately, I lost my job, had to sell everything, and move out of DC. I'm now back in DC, My girlfriend looks at the pictures of my old tanks and motivates me to start again. However, I can't afford to purchase everything (or, rather, feel it's not right to go and burn my little savings on a hobby - instead of saving for another possible hit).

When I was in the hobby I often gave my fry away, traded fish with other enthusiasts, and sometimes sold them very cheap to cover for food or filters. I'm wondering whether there's anyone out there gracious enough to pay it forward and help me get back into this amazing hobby and feels the blessing of donating me a used tank or a full setup?

Just thinking on the stand, tank/lid/lights, gravel, decorations, filter, net, fish, chemicals, food, etc. reminds me how much money I invested in the past and how careful I have to be slowly gett back into this. It's a great hobby and, if anyone would like to share, I'm happy to send you pictures of how I care and develop the tank once again.

Good luck and glad to see you getting back in the hobby. Keep your eyes opened because Petsmart runs a dollar per gallon sale at time.

I have a 20 gallon high that I don't need. You're welcome to it. I live in Gaithersburg, Md. I have a bucket of gravel that if you're strong enough to carry it down two flights of stairs, it's yours. I also have a AC for a 50 gallon that you're welcome to as well. And probably some fake plants.

Petco is doing dollar a gallon now. Wish I could help ya but I'm up north in pa imbsure if you get a tank all the nice people on here could help you out on the odds and ends. Really dollar o gallon is better than most of the used stuff on cl. I must add that I hope petco goes out of buisness but maybe after I get some cheap tanks :)

Keep an eye on craigslist. There are great deals and even free stuff pretty often.

Subscribe to your neighborhood listserv. You'd be surprised how often there are tanks for free.

Heck of a 1st post indeed, you've got like 3 ads like this on Craigslist too, how many sites have you spammed this on? Post like this I'm wary of and wonder the validity.. Lots of people on Craigslist beg for free tanks and supplies and turn around and sell them.
