I thought that I posted these pictures of them when I stripped the female but I must not have. The parents are F1 and came from Cichlids Are Special. I purchased them at Aquamania last spring and they spawned in late July. The fry will be in tomorrow's auction! Sorry for the horrible phone pictures...

I went through my Cynotilapia phase sometime circa 2005 :) Great fish!

Are these guys fairly mellow as mbuna go?

I feel like they're pretty mellow. I keep a group of 6 adults, 3/3. The smallest male has been a little nipped up but nothing life threatening. So far. They max out at 3.5" and I keep them in a 20gal.

I'm looking forward to hearing Dave talk about the dwarf mbuna. Perhaps I'll gain a little more insight on them. According to Laif Demason, they were first imported in spring of 2011(?). I have an old Cichlid News in which Laif writes about their introduction for the column "What's new in the hobby?"

Cynotilapia is usually my first answer to the question, "What other mbuna can I keep with yellow labs and rusties".

Great fish...and so many different (and new) varieties :)
