Heres a few photos for those that asked: XP-E leds with a 1100ma driver.
This is my newest one. Lows and HD didn't have enough of the nylon
leds mounted on intel cpu coolers. (from ebay for $26 for a lot of 12)
Driver and dimmer mounted on the rack

The XP-E leds are not overly bright, with a 1000ma max rating. The heat sinks are overkill for these.
Heres a (blurry) picture of them over a 20H (only 3 leds)
Plenty of light for my needs.
The biggest difference between these and fluorescents is the direction of the light. These only light straight down at about a 120 angle. Floating plants will block out the light much more.
This is my first try, XM-L leds on a 1.5"x.5" aluminum bar.
The XM-L leds run at a max of 3000ma, and are much brighter. Also much hotter as the power increases. I'm using a 2100mA driver for these and cant turn them up much past halfway with the poor heatsink. Even that is much brighter than the XP-Es
