coral or holey rock

I'm using pool sand in my 20 gallon multifasciatus tank, I would like to know how I could get my ph up to 8? Should I use coral or holey rock? Which one raises and holds the ph high better?

Ok, thanks guys I will go with the coral. This take was an Amazon biotope with leaves and driftwood so I think that still affecting the tank.
