It's different for different brands. Should say on the side of the package and will depend on your chemistry out of the tap.
Here's the most common DIY recipe. It will buffer and increase hardness.

You can use lace rock, crushed coral, or African cichlid sand to buffer the ph for you. No additives needed.
I use Saechem American Cichlid Salt in my new world tanks. Works great.
It isn't hard to switch out from gravel to sand. I did it in my 180 a year ago without even removing the fish from the tank.
It's never too late.
