Cca Videoographer!

Are there any Steven Spielberg's in our club? I think we need a CCA Videoographer!

Check this out... the link below is of a African Cichlid video, which is dedicated to the best forum ever. I never heard of the club, but the idea was pretty good. It's produced quite well and come to think about it, it's a great idea to promote the club.

All we need now are some decent African cichlid actors.

I had checked that out before. Thought about it but noticed they only did it for a little while and quit. Then they realized people did not have to show for the meetings or join. Just check out the ones they wanted online. Seems it died in 06

Yea, I think you're right Pat.

I don't think it's a good idea either to film the actual meeting.

I just thought the little promo on YouTube was neat.

I dont think that it could hurt to film the meetings. I agree that the meetings do not need to be posted on the forum or website due to the concern about people using it to not come to meetings.....but it could be very useful if there is the odd circumstance that one of the speakers can not make it to a meeting and we need to be able to present something quickly or if the information could be of specific use to a member that is attempting to utilize the information presented although I guess that could create issues with some of our speakers and their agreements with sponsors and such. I just think that if we are going to have that kind of information presented its a shame to not be able to access it again without bringing that speaker back. I think that it would be the most beneficial in circumstances involving very detailed productions such as the tank stand and canopy, or the upcoming fish room talk.

Most of the speakers that we bring in do not allow their talks to be recorded. We have had this discussion off and on for about a year now and there just isn't a good (and perhaps legal) way to do this. Like Pat mentioned, we want people to come to the meetings and interact with the speaker. We also would like them to participate in the auctions and raffles, so that we can afford to bring the speakers to the meetings in the first place :angel2: It is the "Circle of Life"

Makes sense.

what about recording a few meetings and peicing together a promo video for the site? use only speakers that don't mind, like our local club members, not big name people. and then some peices of the auction/raffle etc. just put together some intresting clips of "what do we do at meetings?"

That's a very good suggestion Julie. A promo tape that we can use to advertise the club. I like it. Perhaps this could be an assignment for the new proposed CCA Photography Club. :winking0049:
