Interesting pics, poor science. "Trophic specialization to actively cross the water-land interface."? "Stranding"? Bull pucky. Try hungry fish and standard opportunistic response - birds have been getting snarfed at the water's edge for tens of millions of years.

I agree. I wonder if they have been observing these catfish over extended periods in order to come to the belief that the catfish are adapting. As you suggest, this may commonly occur with this specific type of catfish but may not have been previously observed/documented.
